"Oh, the places you'll go: Seed fates and a metapopulation model of a rare winter annual"

Studies on seed dispersal of L. filiformis will lead to understanding plant population processes and community dynamics because seed dispersal determines plant recruitment, genetic structure, and range expansion. Our research is focused on the phase II dispersal of L. filiformis seeds, which is difficult to ascertain because the seeds are minute in size (comparative to sesame seeds), and there are virtually no studies that track the fates of individual seeds. A seed dispersal experiment will allow us to obtain hard data on Missouri bladderpod dispersal and be a resource for the plant dispersal research field.
