Research Proposal for Team Worm

From the Abstract: "Four-dimensional microscopy can be used to observe the shapes and migrations of blastomeres in the early embryo.... We propose to explore various techniques for image aquisition, including variations in microscopic technique and the possi- bility of using fluorescent dyes. We will also develop a semi- to fully automated process for image processing, using several image analysis techniques, including level sets segmentation. We also hope to extend the current simulation to include an improved model for centrosome movement, with the eventual intention of incorporating cell division.
