Miller Gives Sigma Xi Lecture at KCOM
Describes work for which he was honored as a 2006 Researcher of the Year by the Kirksville Sigma Xi chapter
Prof. Miller presented an invited lecture in KCOM's Basic Science Seminar in recognition of his being honored by the local chapter as a 2006 Sigma Xi Researcher of the Year.
Kirksville, MO 18 Nov 2006 In the Spring of 2006, the Kirksville Chapter of Sigma Xi, the scientific research society, chose a faculty member from KCOM and a faculty member from Truman as their Researchers of the Year. Prof. Jason Miller (Mathematics) was chosen in recognition of the work he has done with colleagues to broaden the research opportunities for students and faculty in science and mathematics. On Friday, November 17th, Prof. Miller presented an invited lecture in KCOM's Basic Science Seminar in recognition of this honor. His lecture, titled "Connectedness as a Measure of Robustness", described interdisciplinary research done with Dr. Robert Baer (KCOM) and Truman undergraduates as well as work he's done through Truman's Mathematical Biology Program and its The Next STEP Office. The work has been supported by funding from Truman State University and the National Science Foundation through NSF UBM #0337769, NSF UBM #0436348 and, and NSF DUE #431664.###
